A successful environmental consultancy is looking to recruit an experienced ecologist to head up their ecology team in the North. The ideal candidate would be an experienced ecology consultant with 7 years+ working in the industry. The business already has a significant pipeline of projects in the region and intend to extensively grow their team in line with high demand for their expertise in this market.
This is a significant strategic focus for my client and forms a significant part of their business plan. This role offers the successful candidate a fantastic opportunity to grow and develop a significant team within the firm. The role will include leadership and mentoring of a small but growing team, as well as providing additional expertise and resources to the rest of business.

*Actively support commercial development plans by developing the client base in the North
*Project manage and technically lead ecology projects that deliver high quality, pragmatic advice and solutions.
*Support their busy Southern office in delivering on existing pipeline of business.
*Use existing and new industry contacts to develop leads and opportunities.
*Successfully translate opportunities into projects through effective client management and proposal writing.
*Lead the growth of the Northern office in conjunction with other directors.
*Support the directors in the mentoring and development of junior staff.
*A first degree in a relevant subject, such as ecology or other biological sciences with a wildlife focus, and ideally a relevant postgraduate qualification.
*Full membership of CIEEM, and chartered or eligible for chartership (e.g. CEnv or CEcol)
*Relevant experience in ecological impact assessment in support of EIA
*Experience of planning and conducting ecological surveys, including Phase 1 habitat survey and protected species surveys and providing mitigation recommendations.
*At least one protected species survey licence.
*Experience of applying for and holding licences for protected species mitigation/conservation.
*Excellent report writing skills, including survey reports and Environmental Statement chapters
*An excellent understanding of wildlife legislation, the planning process, EIA and Habitats Regulations Assessment.
*A track-record of successful ecology project management.
*Significant experience in the preparation of ecology proposals and tenders.
*Public Inquiry experience would be an advantage.
*Experience of line-management and/or staff mentoring would be an advantage.
*A full UK driver's license would also be an advantage.
