My client is an environmental consultancy who have a vacancy for an Ecologist to join their team at an intermediate, senior or principal level.
The office base for this role is located between Reading and Newbury and easily commutable from Basingstoke, Thatcham, Fleet and the surrounding areas.
This role is available as part of business expansion plan, currently the bulk of ecological services are sub contracted and my client is looking to bring these operations in house.
The role would report into a senior manager who would offer guidance plus support on a day to day basis on project delivery, report writing and business development. This is very much a stand alone role in terms of technical deliver and as a result candidates will need to be experienced and proficient in delivering projects in an autonomous manner.
Main responsibilities of the role are:
Carry out extended Phase 1 habitat surveys and identify protected species or the likely hood of any endangered species
Carry out ecological assessments
Carry out tool box talks
Site walks and surveys
EIA / As part of ecological assessments
License and consent applications
A suitable candidate will have the below qualifications or experience:
-Degree in ecology or related topic
-Experience of working with endangered or protected species
-Be working towards or hold an endangered species license such as GCN, Bat ect…
-Able to deliver site investigations and write reports with minimal supervision ( ideally none)
On offer is a full time permanent role which offers a candidates to really put their own stamp on the company in terms of processes, policies and procedures for delivering ecological work flows. You will also be tasked with growing and developing an ecological team ( medium – long term goal).
Salary is negotiable based on experience and would range from £28 – 45,000 + benefits
