The Manager of Process Safety and Environmental has the responsibility for creating and supporting the efficient implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) along with appropriate health, safety, and environmental controls for the STERIS Applied Sterilisation Services (AST) EMEA and APAC businesses.
With the goal of ensuring that the regional PSM framework, management systems, risk assessments, and action plans are embedded and maintained, this job will provide specialised experience to drive and lead on its creation, implementation, and maintenance. In addition, the position will support capital projects related to sustainability, continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and process safety to guarantee that STERIS' sterilisation technologies and facilities meet the highest standards of health, safety, and the environment for our customers, employees, and the local communities.
The successful candidate will be an integral team member of the regional and global AST HSE teams and STERIS business groups, to identify, review and implement "best practices" for PSM and HSE.
Duties
When you join us as our new Process Safety Engineering & Environmental Manager you will contribute to the the development of and support the effective implementation of the regional PSM and wider HSE strategy, participating in the regular review of the strategy and its implementation whilst developing and maintaining the PSM framework and associated policies, programs and guidance.
You will provide PSM leadership to our EMEA and APAC facilities and management teams to achieve PSM compliance and objectives through the regular completion of internal audits and reviews. Furthermore you will support and contribute to the HSE and process safety engineering strategy and manage projects to drive continuous improvement and engineering solutions to emerging occupational safety, environmental and other risks. Manage the development, implementation and testing of robust emergency, contingency, business continuity and disaster recovery plans for SEVESO / COMAH sites.
In support of environmental compliance you will
Support environmental compliance, including managing environmental / emissions surveys and conducting reviews, to ensure business units are fully compliant with relevant environmental requirements.
Prepare and implement communications based upon existing, new and/or revisions to existing environmental regulations of the country(s) in which the businesses operate.
Coordinate environmental compliance tasks and AST' environmental legal register
Align AST EMEA and APAC environmental compliance procedures with applicable regulation and STERIS performance standards.

Skills
Strong PSM knowledge and understanding
Working knowledge of safety and environmental management systems.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with ability to manage site-level, regional operational and senior management relationships.
Ability to work independently and to work well in a team environment.
Strong people management skills, including facilitation, training, and mentoring skills.
Strong project / problem resolution skills.
Highly effective communication skills; written and oral.
Ability to develop and deliver effective training.
Confident with the use of IT systems, e-learning platforms and software. Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint, databases, and function specific software.
Experience
Ability to independently assess PSM programs, develop action plans to address gaps and opportunities, and independently set direction and implement plans. Work closely with the global HSE team, operational business and external consultant / contractors to champion, communicate and ensure the delivery of the regional PSM and HSE strategy with the objective of making and keeping the business safe against existing and emerging health and safety, fire safety and environmental risks.
