Looking for a role that has variety and will stretch you? Every day is different, you can be on site supporting teams with environmental challenges on some of our most high profile construction projects or in some of the country’s oldest substations. Then be presenting to the Exec about our current performance, you’ll have scope to innovate and try new things to drive environmental performance and get to work in a great team of enthusiastic and driven environmental professionals.

You’ll have freedom in finding innovative ways to be an industry leader in environmental management and sustainability. You will be an essential member of a team that is central in supporting NGET (National Grid Electricity Transmission) deliver the energy transition to net zero. You’ll have a Senior Management team fully committed to achieving step change in environmental performance.

You’ll create an environmental baseline that can be trusted in order to build our approach to sustainability, liaising with the Sustainability team to achieve common aims. Maintain certification to ISO14001. Continual improvement to managing the risks associated with leaking assets (particularly in relation to oil and SF6). Support new ways of working to tackle environmental challenges. Support the management team in developing a strategic approach to environment and sustainability within NGET.

What you’ll need

You’ll have absolute belief in business objectives and strategic aims to improve the way we manage environmental impacts. The ability to work with all layers of staff to influence their approach to environmental management. A good understanding of systems and how they can be used to improve performance. A great communicator who can bring others onboard with them.

  • Environment – related degree and IEMA member
  • Experience with management systems and certification
  • Demonstrable experience in environmental management or similar role

  • A competitive salary of £49,400 to £62,799 pa + Benefits Package + Training and Development.
