Help us create a better future, quicker

Responsible for supporting the Sustainability Manager in the development of Environmental and Sustainability initiatives and incentives for Energy Networks for our Regulated Price Controls. Specific support will be provided for the assessment and response to Ofgem’s Determinations of our RIIO-ED2 Business Plan (due mid and end 2022) and the development of the RIIO-T3 Business Plan, the planning for which is due to commence at the end of 2022.

To develop new RIIO-T2 environmental and wider sustainability incentives or initiatives utilising sound economic justification. This will require having an in-depth knowledge development in the sustainability and environmental agenda. This will also require having the ability to liaise directly with Ofgem, the other Transmission and Distribution Network Operators and with our existing Environmental and Sustainability team to ensure consistency with our business as usual activities.

What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible for developing environmental and sustainability initiatives and incentives for inclusion in SPEN’s regulated price control business plans, to meet SPEN’s sustainability targets and Ofgem and stakeholder expectations.

Supporting the Sustainability Manager we will look for you to build new relationships with Environmental stakeholders to ensure their views are considered in the formulation of the price control business plans. This will require liaising with colleagues in the sustainability team, price control, engineers, and licences to ensure alignment with the project and business usual activities.

You will also support the price control agenda across the organisation by delivering a comprehensive service to all external and internal stakeholders including participation in working groups and communication of the Scottish Power Energy Networks approach.

We will look for you to provide your technical expertise, researching issues and developments and translating these into proposals for meaningful plans and measures for the wider business. Reviewing and verifying relevant Ofgem submissions prepared by Scottish Power Energy Networks prior to the final approval and commenting upon and addressing Ofgem’s responses. Once the price control has concluded, the outcomes should be communicated and rolled out into the business via formal workshops.

What you’ll bring

You will have awareness of environmental and sustainability requirements for an electricity network operator and hold the ability to justify proposals to the regulator utilising environmental, social and economic analysis.

With your demonstrable experience of liaising, negotiating and influencing at a management level in business as well as your in-depth knowledge of developments in the sustainability and environmental agenda you will help us reach our cost control and sustainability targets and drive our business forward.

What’s in it for you

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
