We’ve an excellent opportunity for an experienced sustainability professional to join us and lead our efforts to deliver our sustainability strategy and meet our ambitious targets for improvements to our homes and the wider estate. In this exciting new role as Head of Sustainability, you’ll play a key role in formulating our roadmap to achieving Net Zero Carbon ensuring our sustainability strategy remains ambitious and up to date.

As Optivo’s Head of Sustainability you’ll lead a highly specialised sustainability team and provide strategic advice on a wide range of sustainability matters within Optivo. This will include leading on the delivery of a large-scale and complex range of sustainability measures including our retrofit programme of works to improve the energy performance of our homes. You’ll also ensure that robust energy performance data is collected, analysed and modelled relating to portfolio energy performance and develop cost efficient methods to improve accuracy and completeness of the datasets.

You’ll Identify and maximise new external grant income, investment and funding opportunities for sustainability measures including property retrofits and innovative energy and environmental projects including renewables.

Within your role, you’ll be the lead representative for Optivo externally and inform and influence the sustainability agenda throughout the social housing sector.

What you’ll need
You’ll have a proven track record of successfully formulating and delivering a corporate sustainability strategy for a large and varied portfolio of assets. Along with a relevant academic qualification and/or membership of relevant professional bodies such as IEMA, RICS or CIOB, you’ll have expert knowledge of developing and delivering energy efficiency action plans and reporting on strategic performance to the executive team. You’ll be adept at working within a customer focussed environment, providing advice and support regarding the technicalities of energy efficiency works and financial models to deliver these works to meet our diverse customers’ needs and aspirations.

You’ll have expert knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and/or codes that underpin the delivery of an efficient and effective property related housing service. You’ll be highly influential at developing a wider business consensus for addressing environmental issues, which also encompasses the expected socio-economic benefits and reputational considerations.
