We need a dynamic team leader to not only manage our existing LEQ services and to develop additional LEQ business but to assist with the team’s wider consultancy services include street cleansing reviews and improvement plans, plus extensive support in waste, recycling, grounds maintenance and other environmental services.

You will ensure projects are delivered to the relevant standards, cost and time, as well as oversee the delivery of non-strategic projects under guidance where required. You will support the delivery of major projects or a range of smaller ones requiring specialist input. You will have day-to-day client interface, conducting site visits for technical assessment or problem solving. You will develop solutions based on relevant best practice. You will pro-actively identify business development opportunities with existing and new clients. You will support the professional development and coaching of the team.

The successful candidate must have excellent technical abilities and knowledge of best practice in municipal waste resource management at a National and EU level. You must also have a thorough understanding of waste collection in the Local Authority sector in England from both an operational and strategic context. It is essential that you have a good level of understanding of the key drivers and legislation relating to the safe and legal operation of waste collection operations pertaining to Local Authorities in England.

It is crucial that you have full working knowledge and skills in analysing waste data and information as publicly available through sources such as WasteDataFlow and the WRAP LA Portal to enable benchmarking and comparisons and for reporting purposes; and have the ability to construct waste models using Excel, of the appropriate complexity according to the requirements of the task, to accurately support options appraisal for waste collection service options and (re) design. modelling is required in this role and will include waste flows (materials and tonnages); operational data (vehicles/crews); and financial implications so as to provide accurate assessment of environmental and economic performance for each option being considered, it is a necessary aspect of the role that you have the ability to be able to transfer the results from desktop research and modelling, data and information obtained from the client and elsewhere into sound and robust technical reports fit for purpose for submission and or presentation to the client.

We are looking for someone who is either able or aspiring towards being an effective project manager and to have an understanding of the skills and processes used to achieve successful project management and thereby deliver desired outcomes resulting in customer satisfaction, of graduate calibre, ideally, with experience of working in waste management and preferably this should have been in a waste collections authority environment either as an advisor or provider to a local authority, or as a local authority officer. Although not essential but it would be beneficial if you have had past experience of working in a consultancy role or commercial environment. For this role you must have a Full clean UK driving licence.
