About the Role:

LUC‘s work is responding increasingly to the climate emergency, including the carbon net zero agenda. We are therefore seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic carbon management specialist to join us.

Our current projects include local authority renewable energy and low carbon studies, preparing planning guidance on delivering carbon related policy requirements, using carbon data to shape spatial planning options, identifying carbon sequestration opportunities at both plan and project level and writing EIA climate change chapters and related guidance.

The role involves supporting us in embedding carbon management into our spatial planning work, from the strategic policy to project level, engaging with a range of both public and private sector clients. As part of this, you will provide an interface between LUC project teams and supporting external technical carbon specialists undertaking modelling work. You will also work with our ecology and landscape design and management teams to implement carbon reduction objectives across all areas of LUC’s work.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all aspects of our work, including tendering, project management and delivery, and assisting with the generation of new business.

We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements for this role, including part-time working (minimum 30 hours per week), core hours and a degree of location flexibility.

The role could be based in any LUC office.

About you:

We are looking for someone with experience working across a range of carbon management and climate change projects of relevance to LUC’s work, as described above. We anticipate that you will have experience in preparing carbon management plans and net zero carbon strategies and ideally have a sound knowledge of carbon management/accounting tools.

You will share our desire to remain at the forefront of innovative and award winning thinking in this important area of work. You will have an enthusiastic and flexible attitude and an eagerness to take on new challenges.

We are also looking for candidates to have good organisational skills, excellent report writing and communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and clients.
