Becoming an Environmental Officer with Capita Local Government
Location: London Borough of Barnet
Salary: Up to £39k
Would you like to help us to preserve and enhance the physical environment for people living and working in Barnet? Would you like an Opportunity to undertake Environmental protection and consultancy work with our established Re Consultancy Service and Scientific Services team?
What you’ll be doing:
We are looking for an officer to join our dedicated team, to ensure that the residents of Barnet have access to staff who can deal with their commercial, construction and industrial nuisance and pollution prevention problems. Work also involves liaising with planning & regeneration including Brent Cross and assessing noise, contaminated land and air quality reports. This is to make Barnet a successful London suburb.
The ability to work with minimal supervision is crucial to this post. You should have very good communication skills and the self-confidence to deal with members of the public and local businesses. If the case requires it you will need to attend court as a witness. Knowledge to degree level or vocational equivalent of acoustics, contaminated land, pollution control, LAPPC, air quality and statutory nuisance is essential but training will also be provided. The role may also be suitable for those with an Environmental Health degree but yet to attain EHRB registration, the higher pay scale will be only payable to EHRB registered candidates.
If not EHRB registered you will require a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar Local authority role or have been an Environmental Consultant/Scientific Officer. You will need a valid, current driving licence and will be required to provide a suitable vehicle, for which an allowance is payable.
