Acre is supporting an exciting and impactful international NGO that drive to advance children's rights and equality in more than seventy countries, in their search for an experienced Environmental Sustainability Adviser. This individual will provide technical leadership across international programmes and support the development and implementation of green projects. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to represent the organisation's work on green programmes externally, networking with appropriate donors and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Influence a wide range of stakeholders to support organisational change processes
  • Provide technical advice to Country Offices, reviewing the environmental sustainability of proposals
  • Design and deliver bespoke training to support staff capacity to implement environmental concerns within programmes
  • Revive and oversee a network of Sustainability Champions, to raise the organisation's profile across Environmental Sustainability
  • Develop new tools, resources to mainstream sustainability across the organisation

The Environmental Adviser will be the go-to sustainability expert within the organisation, advising on Environmental Sustainability across various programmes of work, proposals, and new ventures and enabling better sustainability practices across the organisation. As such, the ideal candidate should be a confident and credible communicator.

Experience Required:

  • Experience of implementing and/or advising on programmes in developing countries aimed at promoting environmental sustainability
  • Knowledge of integrating sustainability within fundraising proposals and monitoring and evaluating a diverse range of programmes including livelihoods, education, WASH and economic security, for their environmental impact
  • Ability to communicate technical and specialist issues to non-specialist audiences
  • Fostering a flexible and adaptable working style, able to manage a wide and varied workload while prioritizing key deliverables
  • Educated to degree level (ideally Masters level or above) in a relevant discipline
